ANSWER |
| How do I place an order? |
First,
either use the custom-quote form below, send me an email
with your requirement, or call me to be sure I have what
you need. When your order is completed, it is then weighed to calculate shipping. A
Pay Pal invoice is then emailed to you. Once that
invoice is paid, your package is normally sent out that
same day. |
| When will you have
pre-cut pieces on your website for sale? |
Soon,
very soon. I have been so busy cutting custom
orders that I have not yet been able to build up much
inventory. With the recent purchase of new
machinery to speed up the cutting, and hopefully a new
sanding machine to be purchased soon, I should be able
to have plenty in stock soon. |
| I don't have a Pay Pal
account, what should I do? |
You do
not need a Pay Pal account to pay a Pay Pal invoice.
You can either use a credit card or send an e-check
through PayPal. Information is on Pay Pal's
website, and on the payment page. |
| I ordered 2" diameter
slices, but some of them are slightly under, and some
slightly over 2" in diameter. |
That's
how trees grow. I cut slices as close to your
required diameter as possible. Depending upon the
size of your order, I may have to use several different
trees to cut your size. If you are looking for
perfectly sized wood slices, please do not place an
order. This is "rustic" woodworking, not "fine"
woodworking. |
| Why do you charge extra
if I want the wood slices sanded? |
Because
sanding belts are expensive, and as for now, I do all
the sanding by hand, slice by slice on a belt sander.
This is a very time consuming process. I might
spend 2 hours cutting slices, and another 6 - 10 hours
sanding them. I specialize in "rustic" wood, which
is usually rough-cut. |
| I ordered the wrong size
slices, what should I do? |
Everybody knows the old saying.......measure twice, cut
once. Please be sure you order the proper
diameter, thickness and species. If you
miscalculated, and I cut the slices to your
specifications (not my fault) you may still return the
product for a full refund at your expense. I will
only refund the cost of the product, not for the
shipping paid to send it to you in the first place. |
| Are your wood slices
treated? |
You can
request to have your wood treated with Pentacryl.
Pentacryl is a wood stabilizer used by woodcarvers and
woodturners to keep green wood from cracking, checking
and splitting during the drying process. When the wood
is completely dry, it can be stained and finished with
either waterborne or oil base products. PENTACRYL is
also non-toxic. |
| How do you ship products? |
I
typically use USPS. Smaller shipments are shipped
in flat-rate boxes. Larger orders are also shipped
through USPS, and are calculated according to zip code,
weight, and package dimensions. All packages are
sent from zip code 55718. |
| Why can't you tell me
what the shipping cost will be before I place my order? |
Because
the moisture content of wood determines it's weight.
Each slice and species is different. Humidity in
the air will affect an unfinished piece of wood.
Other aspects which affect the weight of the wood slice
are it's age and how green it is, if it has been treated
with Pentacryl, and how thick it is. |
| I just found your
website, and I need some slices ASAP! |
I
usually cut slices according to when the order was
received. Larger orders require more time to
complete. If you have a small order
I might be able to fit it in for an extra "rush order"
fee. |
| Can you send samples? |
You can
order basic samples from
here. These
samples are to let you see the different types of wood.
I must charge for samples because of the shipping and
packaging. |
| Do you have any mis-cuts,
or imperfect slices that you sell. |
Usually
I do, however when I get too many I get rid of them.
If you are working on a project where you can use wood
slices that are not perfect, send me an email and I will
let you know what I have on hand. |
| Can you drill a hole into
the wood slices for me? |
Yes, no
problem. I charge a small fee for drilling holes.
All you have to do is tell me what size hole you need,
and where you want it drilled (face or edge).
